Judging by the sheer quantity and quality of short films from India that were submitted to DIFF this year, a majority of which were first films, the future looks promising for Indian cinema! Whittling down these films to the final selection was a long and difficult process. Responding to this encouraging proliferation of debut films, DIFF is initiating an Audience Award for Best First Film for short films from India this year. All Pass-holders can vote for their choice of best film. A survey will be sent by email on 29 October and this should be submitted latest by the evening of 3 November. The winner will be announced on 4 November, the last day of the festival.
