DIFF is happy to present, in partnership with st_age, the online platform for commissions initiated as a response to the Covid-19 crisis by our long-term collaborators Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21), An Invocation to the Earth, the extraordinary new short film by acclaimed Singaporean director Yeo Siew Hua. A constellation of institutions have joined forces in a cross-continental collaboration to ensure that An Invocation to the Earth reaches the widest possible public. The film examines ecosystemic collapse through the lens of the destruction of forests in Southeast Asia, pre-colonial folk tales, and animistic rituals. It is, furthermore, a call to defend the rights of environmental activists in the Philippines, and by extension in other parts of the world where their work brings them into great danger.
