DAYS OF CANNIBALISM
This contemporary documentary Western unfolds against the backdrop of the emerging China-Africa relationship. In a remote rural region of Southern Africa—a frontier where the laws of society are in flux—the arrival of economic migrants from China has upset the balance of power. Old laws and gods are being called into question and the unbridled forces of capitalism are deeply felt. As a new order evolves, subtle incidents and small gestures reveal the effects of migration, personal sacrifice, solitude, alienation and the experience of otherness. Old structures begin to disintegrate, latent violence threatens to erupt and, ultimately, one rule asserts itself above all others—eat or be eaten.
