DEAR COMRADES!
1962: A provincial town in southern USSR. Lyudmila, an idealistic WWII veteran and devout Communist Party official, is the scourge of any form of anti-Soviet sentiment. Together with other local Party officials, she is taken by surprise by a local factory strike in which her own daughter is participating. As the demonstration spirals out of control, Lyudmila begins a desperate search for her offspring—in the face of curfews, mass arrests and the authorities’ ruthless attempts to cover up state violence. Her eyes opened to the human toll the Party line actually takes, Lyudmila’s faith is shaken and her world torn apart.
