FINANCING THE INDIE
10th November Wednesday – 6:30 pm | Live event on Zoom, registration required
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the global indie film circuit, with Indian and Asian filmmaker communities taking an especially large hit. How have Indian indie film professionals reckoned with the renewed ecosystem as we gradually emerge out of the worst stages of the pandemic? A cursory assessment of the current landscape results in a complicated answer––while India is a relatively big market with diverse sources of film funding, truly independent filmmaking still survives on the fringes. Panelists Srishti Bahl ( Producer), Samir Sarkar (Magic Hour Films) and Isabelle Glachant (Founder, Chinese Shadows) bring their past expertise in top OTT platforms, independent co-productions and film funding to discuss how we can propel the Indian indie scene forward and make independent film practice sustainable. The roundtable will be moderated by Curator and Producer Anupama Bose.
