GANDEN: A JOYFUL LAND
This revealing documentary examines the lives and memories of the last remaining generation of Tibetan Buddhist monks to have studied at the renowned Ganden Monastery in Tibet. Likened to the Vatican, the monastery is considered to be the most influential in Tibetan Buddhism. It is also from where His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s lineage emanates. For more than 500 years, monks inhabited Ganden in simplicity and contentment—before China’s invasion forced them to flee to India. Embodying the strength and joy of their faith, the survivors of the exodus movingly relate their experiences in both Tibet and India.
