Set among a scattered fishing community living on floating pieces of biomass called “Phumdis” across Lake Loktak, Lady of the Lake takes viewers straight into the heart of one of India’s most fragile communities, dealing with displacement, government harassment and environmental concerns since 2011. Filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar immerses himself in the community, creating an urgent mix of documentary and drama against a breathtaking backdrop that remains on the brink even today.
