Self-proclaimed producer Wu Haohao’s makes videos mostly featuring sexual content. He and his girlfriend, Ge Ningning, have an agreement that each may take lovers beyond their relationship. But conflicts are common, with the couple holding very different opinions on marriage, childbirth and what kind of ties to maintain with their parents. Haohao also proclaims himself as a communist—worshipping Mao Zedong and admiring the Cultural Revolution but, in his mission to change society, often hits brick walls. Ningning, on the other hand, likes to dance and paint. She has performed in many of Haohao’s films—but without recognition. Her path to success and fame is proving long and tortuous. As their relationship reaches crisis point, Ningning and Haohao face bleak future prospects.
