TRUTH AND TIME IN THE MOVING IMAGE
Priya Sen speaks with Akshay Ingle, JJ Abraham, Shrutiman Deori, and Yudhajit Basu
Filmmaker Priya Sen (Faasla, Yeh Freedom Life) relates her own experience with observational documentary filmmaking with four other filmmakers - Akshay Ingle, JJ Abraham, Shrutiman Deori and Yudhajit Basu, whose respective films Mahalle’s School - Family Going Live, Stories from the Second Floor, Ne Sotal and Kalsubai are quiet, introspective reflections of varied social and cultural realities. With the boundary between truth and fiction blurred as it is, they will discuss using experimental methods to further distort space and time as portrayed in “nonfiction” cinema. Sen, Ingle, Abraham and Deori further discuss how they employed filmmaking as a response to, and observation of the pandemic.
