What would you do if you accidently ran someone over? This is the question faced by Shirish and Geeta, an upper middle-class couple from Lucknow. Their differing reactions to an accident in which they are implicated lie at the core of Ashish Pant’s suspense drama, which explores class conflict, materialism, and guilt—endemic aspects of contemporary urban Indian society. Hailing from a lower middle-class family, Shirish has worked his entire life to become a successful businessman. Geeta, on the other hand, has grown up in a privileged, socially conservative household—with enforced patriarchal ideals and parents who now judge her for remaining childless in her thirties. Can high walls and locked gates hold at bay the noxious manifestations of inequality and class hierarchy that seethe just outside the couple’s abode? And will guilt at their own middle-class complicity seep into their relationship?
