A conversation with Daniela Zyman, Patricia Domínguez and Mario Garcia Torres
DIFF 2021 brings its audiences a curated selection of video works commissioned by longtime collaborator Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA 21) as part of the larger Water(y) Witnesses series. This special series at DIFF 2021 investigates water and it’s complex connection to human imagination, progress, survival and spirituality. TBA 21 Artistic Director Daniela Zyman is joined by critically acclaimed Mexican artist Mario Garcia Torres (The Way They Looked at Each Other) and Chilean artist Patricia Dominguez (La balada de las sirenas secas), both whose films are part of the 2021 lineup and channel water as an aesthetic medium. Torres and Dominguez’ urgent video works will serve as a backdrop for this discussion around the aesthetic and political implications of water, especially issues of water emergency and privatization, and new constitutional movements in Central and South America that water bodies bear witness to.
Available for the extension of the festival, until Sunday 14 November.
